Robotics@Maryland is currently composed of more than 75 active undergraduate and graduate students, including Engineers in Aerospace, Electrical, Computer, and Mechanical as well as Physics, Math and Computer Science majors. John Wyrwas is alumni and former President of the UMD Botball Team. He wanted to start a Robotics Club which did more than just play games: a direct application in industry and science.
The club (originally just the AUV group) was founded in the fall of 2006.
In the spring of 2008, the club expanded by creating an AGV group.
