The Competition

This is why we built Qubo and Tortuga

Robotics @ Maryland builds a robot to compete in AUVSI and ONR's RoboSub Competition every year. At the competition, our autonomous underwater vehicle (AUV) must complete a variety of tasks to score as many points as possible. Tasks usually include things like following a visually marked path, hitting colored buoys in the correct order, navigating a simple obstacle course, dropping markers in marked bins, firing torpedos at targets, and manipulating and carrying objects. Of course, these are all done autonomously (without human interaction) and underwater, which is what makes them hard.
